For a post wedding day, only moderately hurting and we are good to go to Cobble Hill, where our friends Sean and Elaine live and our hosts for the night.

We leave Nan's sister's place and head over to Betty's place - her other sister and parents of the groom - for one last visit before they head off to Tofino.  In the mean time, I indvertantly leave the key in the ignition on the bike in the "on" position and the battery promplty dies. At this point, I would like a "shout out" to Stan of Stan's Used Motorcycle Emporium, Home of the Limited Lifetime Warranty. A couple of days before our trip, Stan offers me a loaner of his motorcycle jumper cables, which I decline as in many, long years of riding (now six in number) I have never had to jump start a bike. Betty's husband Roger pulls his truck around and we do the deed and it only takes five minutes. In short order, once again the ST is purring like a kitten and Roger comes up with some ultra lightweight jumper cables - perfect for a motorcycle - they look like they are 20 years old the package has never been opened and he makes the cables a contribution to the continued success of our trip. This time I think better of declining, even though I think it is a long shot that I will ever have to use them. They come with a little bag and they fit tidily under the seat of the bike.

It is a short ride to Cobble Hill but the road is crazy busy. I keep thinking I want to add a big, 150 dB horn to the bike so I can let people know with certainty that there is a bike beside them. I want to make them drop their cell phones or their iced frappaccinos and pay attention to the road and other drivers. Note to self: buy 150 dB horn.

We arrive at Sean and Elaine's house. I have been here before but it has been 40 years. Sean and I are also celebrating 40 years of friendship as he, Peter and I all went to the same reform high school, which is in fact, just down the road. We celebrate. And even though he is not a great fan of salmon, Sean falls on his sword and arranges with a friend of his to catch a salmon the day before so that we can have really fresh salmon for dinner that night. Outstanding, considering "fresh" salmon to us is just out of the freezer.
